1. Introduction
As we know, our modern society has developed a lot, especially in science and technology. The development of science and technology influences our society critically, such as Multi-communication system, Cyber world and so on. There are a number of types of science technology and what I am going to report on is one of them--- Space Technology. Since it developed many things, things we couldn’t do before are now available. For instance, “Sojourner”, a robot for exploring and observing Mars, has shown that Mars once had an amount of water. As far as I am concerned, the present goal for scientists is to develop starships because they need to explore all around space. However, there are still three major scientific advancements that must be made before we can travel to the stars: First, a way to exceed the speed of light (Warp Drive); second, a system to power a spacecraft without fuel; and third, a way to take advantage of the energy in space. According to the news, it says that many scientists and engineers are looking fora solution. I think the solution is to make “Starship Enterprise”.
2. Starship Enterprise
Starship Enterprise is a starship that came from a movie called “Star Trek” and it doesn’t exist presently. Since Star Trek came out into the world, it is referred as the most iconic image for one science fiction. It also has a different name called the USS Enterprise. The definition of Enterprise is a project made for seeking out new life civilizations (also defined as to boldly go where no man has ever gone before). The USS Enterprise’s design is from a ship called Enterprise in the U.S. Also referred in the introduction, it is able to Warp Drive (exceed the speed of light). It is also able to operate without fuel take advantage of the energy in space. It has several series called NCC-1701. The first version of USS Enterprise is called NCC-1701. As it develops, or destroys, it forms different types. After the NCC-1701, they are ordered in alphabetical order (After the NCC-1701 is NCC-1701-A). Its size is also extremely huge. It is taller than “Buai Khalifa” the tallest building in Dubai.
3. What facilitis do Starship Enterprise own
Starship Enterprise has lots of highly advanced facilities, such as Transporter, Replicator, Warp Drive, Engines, Weapon, hatches etc… Among them, Transporter, Replicator, Warp-Drive and engines are the most important facilities in Enterprise. Transporter, in simple words is converting and reconverting a person or object from place to place. While it converts a person or object, an energy pattern called “Dematerialization” happens (Dematerialization is to cease material existence). After Dematerialization, a single beam will beam onto a target where it is reconverted into matter. This process is called “Rematerialization” (Rematerialization is to come into perceptible existence). Sometimes accidents can occur when a person or object doesn’t rematerialize correctly. If we live in Starship and stay in there for a long time, it will be obvious that there will be a food shortage. For solving this problem, they make a Replicator. You can easily see, it has responsibility to care groceries. It is a machine that is capable of duplicating objects, such as food, water and supplies. There are three engines in there called the Impulse engine, Main engine, and Aux Engine. The power of Starship is operated by nuclear reactor. Theoretically, they will prefer argon rather than xenon. This is because if they use xenon, it will be more expensive than argon. Also we can mine argon mostly near the atmosphere of Mars. It shows that there will be less trouble to operate system, because whenever they are in lack of power, then they can go around the atmosphere of Mars, and take it from there. In addition, their engine will change. According to the movie, in the 23rd century, they will use Warp Core which is capable to speed up until 5 warp speed. In 24th century, it will change into a horizontal engine which will be capable to speed up until 10 warp speed. This shows that after we make Starship Enterprise, our technology of Starship making will develop a lot.
4. Warp- Drives
On top of that, the most critical facilities in Starship will be the “Warp- Drives.” In simple words it is exceeding speed of the light. (Speed of the light is approximately 300, 000km/s.) Its other name is “Alcubierre- Drive.” Alcubierre- Drive was made by a physicist called Miguel Alcubierre in 1994. He said that when the negative mass/energy exists, we can perform Warp- Drive. The process of Warp- Drive seems simple, but actually it is complicated. It operates when the gravity force squishes the space time (in front of Starship) and when the warp bubble expands the space time. (behind the Starship) When this happens, it pushes the Starship to go forward. Warp- Drive is actually dangerous, because it is unpredictable. Because Warp is very sensitive, slight mistakes will make us to go into black hole, or other places. They also get huge amount of pressures, so it is unsafe.
5. How it will impact on our life
Theoretically, if Starship Enterprise has made in the future, it will impact lots of things in society. For instance, we are presently living a comfortable life, but because of this we will have much more comfortable life than before. As far as I am concerned, it will cause crimes. It will be able to travel space for sightseeing. At present, we can travel space, even we are not astronauts, but it will cost amount of money. However if Starship Enterprise has made, we will able to travel space for sightseeing with cheaper amount of money. We will be able to discover and build up new theories about space. Just now, we are having limitation with exploring around space, so it will be efficient affect to us to observe new theories.
6. Conclusion
What our engineers focus on now is to make a real Starship Enterprise. Citizens mostly don’t believe that it will be possible, because of the information from the news and books. According to our science textbook, it says that it won’t be able to make a real model, because there isn’t anything that proves it can be possible. It also says that we can’t, because if we want to make a real `one, we need to rewrite all the old theories. However, the engineers today have announced that they can make a real model as NCC-1701 somewhat similar with it. They can’t make nuclear reaction which is available to operate Warp- Drive. Instead of making nuclear reaction, they will probably use Ion propulsion engine, so that we can at least explore around our solar system. Neither you nor I know whether it will be successful or not. If this comes true in the future, it will contribute lots of new things to our life, but if not, then it will make engineers to lose their confidence and be a waste of money about 460 billion dollars. During the time they work, what we can do for it now is just to wait and hope for the successful future.
