Chris`s Satellites
My model - Satellite
Satellite
Nowadays, people can use internet to search information, watch movies or use GPS to find the road when they go to a place where they never been. We can get these information, because there are thousands of satellites are orbiting around the Earth and sending information to countries in the space. Satellites are objects which have been sent into the space in order to collect information or to be part of a communication system. There are different types of satellites are orbiting around the earth every second. Some of them are sending information about the weather, another is sending something that is relate with geographic, others are sending information about the space. Although, all of them are used by people in different ways, but all of them made people`s lives much more comfortable and better than the past.
The satellite can orbit around the Earth without fell down to the earth`s surface is because of its speed. Imaging if you throw a stone in the air, it will fly and curve in the air for a short time. After it, it will fell to the ground. If you throw a stone with more power, it will fly more distance and fall down later on, it also curves more. This is the concept of how are satellites orbiting around the sun. They are orbiting around the earth with much faster speed, in that they can orbit without fall down to the surface of the earth. In addition, when the object is in the air, it will be faster 5m/second and fall to the ground. If a object go far away from the earth with 5m/second faster, it will not fall to the ground because of Earth`s gravity. Likewise, satellite`s average speed is 7.9km/second and it takes 90 minutes to orbit the Earth for them.
The are lots of satellites are in the space, but only few of them are orbiting around the Earth and work. Other else are already broken, so that they cannot send information and do their missions properly. These satellites are named space junk. According to the research, there are more than five thousands satellites in the space. However, only one over five of this which means one thousands are working properly, others are just flying around the earth. Although, people can enjoy their lives more after they sent satellites into the space, but it is a huge problem after they broke and become space junks.
October 4th, 1957, the first satellite of the world was made in Russia, It named "Sputnik 1". It was a 58cm diameter polished material sphere, with four external radio antennae. It rotated around the Earth for 3 months. After 3 month, January 4th, 1958, it fell from orbit upon reentering the Earth`s atmosphere. After one month, on November 3rd, 1957, they sent second satellite into the space, named "Sputnik 2". It carried a living animal, a dog named "Laika". Sputnik 2 was a 4 meter high core-shaped capsule with a base diameter of 2 meter. It contained several compartments such as, radio transmitters, a telemetry system, a programming system unit, a regeneration and temperature control system and scientific instruments. A separate sealed cabin contained the dog "Laika".
Likewise, satellites became the most important part in our lives. It is hard to image our lives without satellites. We can live a "better lives" by those information that they sent from the space. Those information are useful to people, but also, they are helping astronomers to answer the secret of the space. Many believes they are not important, but I believe our technology can develop is depending on them.
