My
science fair topic is what material purified the water best and my report has
background research about how to make mini water purifier and how the mini
water purifier works (how does each material purified the water).
The water purifier skills will solution the water problem in poor country that doesn’t have clean water to drink. The skills already working in the some country but in the world, we have more poor country than the max water purifier skills or machines.

Making the homemade water filter
1.Stand the bottle upside down
2 . Cut the bottom of the clear plastic bottle. . 3. Pace the coffee filter in top of the bottle
4.Fill the inside with layers of cotton/cheese cloth, fine sand, coarse sand, gravel (top of the all materials), and small charcoals
5. Put cloths in end of each layers
6. Stand the bolttle on the top of the bottle part that you cut in the second step
Please do not drink the water.

How does materials can purified water?
First I’ll explain about the activated charcoal. The activated charcoal is the most main point that the water gets purified. The activated charcoal has thousands of small holes and that holes purified the little bacteria and dirty things. Activated Carbon was created by heating Charcoal to very high temperatures under conditions that if they take away all of the hydrogen, (most often in the presence of CO^2). This drives off all of the volatile compounds and leaves carbon. The little holes created in this process are so small that they are able to attract and hold the organic molecules that try to pass through.

Charcoal used to absorb odors and toxins in gases, such as air. Charcoal filters are also used in some types of gas mask. The medical use of activated charcoal is mainly the adsorption of poisons, especially in the case of suicide attempts in which the patient has ingested a large amount of a drug.
The wool or cotton does the purifying
too. They both have little strings that are scaly, so that the strings can pick
the dirty things. Wool or cotton, if you look at the fibers through a microscope, is
scaly. Just like our own hair. It makes sense since all mammal hair is like
that to hold in the color molecules. Through processing to turn the wool into
yarn, the scales are opened slightly. The scales can therefore catch dirt
particulates when water passes through it allowing the clean water to pass on.
Since the scales are microscopic, they capture most every bit of dirt.
each section of the filter column removes particles from the water, purifying it. The different filters remove particles of different sizes. The grains of the sand and gravel have small spaces between them. These allow water to pass through, but trap particles in the water. The carbon granules are made from material called active carbon. Chemicals in the water cling to the surface of the carbon and are removed from the water. The filter paper has tiny holes between it fiber. It is particularly effective in filtering oil.
The coffee filter does the purification. The reason I put the
filter in each layer or at the last is the filter purified the things that the
last layer doesn’t purify. Coffee
filters of paper are made from about 100 g/m crepe paper. The creping allows
the coffee to flow freely between the filter and the filtration funnel, but not
the coffee bean. The real filter that used in lavatory is really good but I don’t
have and it’s hard to get.
